Abstract
There are conflicts between the supporters and opponents for the plan of
constructing the tidal power plant in Garorim Gulf. For solving these conflicts,
it is essential to analyze the environmental value of Garorim Gulf. This study
attempts to assess the environmental value of Garorim Gulf by using contingent
valuation method, especially the one and one half bound dichotomous choice
spike model. This model has the benefit of higher efficiency in benefit
estimates than the single bound dichotomous choice model and it reduced the
potential response bias of double bound dichotomous choice model. According
to estimating ways, annual mean willingness to pay per household for
conserving Garorim Gulf is 4,531 won for the residents near Garorim Gulf and
6,850 won for the residents in the biggest 7 cities in Korea.
