Abstract
Recently, the government has announced a variety of housing policies in order to reduce local housing costs and improve residential environment as well as to stabilize residences. The Hangbok Joint Dormitory out of them is off-campus dormitory to supply housing to university students at low costs by reducing acquisition cost expenses while using public lands as its site. This study was the first to target off-campus joint dormitory located in outskirt of the city and there are not enough preceding research data or cases to reference. Thus this study carried out a preference survey targeting students who have lived in dormitory. Through analysis on the needs of user, this study was able to extracts the elements which could be applied to the present proposal. The main contents of the questionnaire are about location, living space, service facilities, outdoor space, study space, lifestyle, space use pattern and so on. Looking at the details of the plan were made as a result as follows: unit design based on the balance between private and sharable space, spatial hierarchy at community spaces, isolated private open space, common use space at typical floor plan, diverse and qualitative outdoor space, etc.
