Abstract
The interaction between land use and transportation has long been studied in the field of city and transportation planning. However, many integrated models of land use and transportation developed so far deal with market outcomes rather than models the market process itself, so that they tend to have a fundamental problem as a research tool that aims to explain the social and economic phenomena in land use and transportation. Our model bases the choice behavior of travelers on the firm microeconomic theory and provides a methodology that would help describe the generation and distribution of urban activities and their spatial interaction.
