Abstract
Abstract This study proposes a method to simplify the Life Cycle Cost (LCC) estimation process for high-speed rail signaling systems. The introduction of the KTX in 2004 marked a turning point in South Korea’s transportation infrastructure, and subsequent domestic production of KTX-Sancheon rolling stock and the KTCS-2 signaling system achieved technological self-reliance. With existing signaling systems nearing the end of tlieir service life, the importance of managing maintenance and replacement costs has become increasingly crucial. However, traditional LCC analyses are highly complex due to the diversity of cost items, variability in operating environments, and uncertainty in long-term forecasting. This study reduces LCC analysis complexity through Coefficient Modeling of key cost item correlations, enabling more intuitive and universally applicable cost estimation and evaluation. The proposed method was applied to an operational high-speed rail signaling system to verify its effectiveness and practicality.
