Abstract

This study was initiated to study design techniques that satisfy the short life cycle of a product due to the level of consumer demand raised by changes in consumption patterns. The AD(Axiomatic Design) methodology is a design theory designed to reduce the complexity of design. The purpose of this study is to reduce the complexity of product development by applying AD theory to the development process of word cards. Thus, the relevant consumer needs were collected and the concept of AD was introduced in each process of deriving design and manufacturing variables suitable for consumer needs. Mainly focused on mapping from functional requirements to design parameter. The development process was carried out in five stages: customer needs collection, conceptual design, detailed design, engineering, and manufacturing. First, during the demand collection phase, consumer needs were collected from N Portal"s top five mom cafes, and internal opinions were collected and used as end-user requirements. Second, the theory of AD was applied from the conceptual design stage. The collected consumer needs were stratified according to the functional decomposition method, and duplicate design items were eliminated by comparing the consumer needs with the design parameters in a matrix fashion. Third, Eliminate design contradictions and prioritize designs. using the concept of decoupled design. Fourth, in the engineering stage, a process optimized through engineering was written to satisfy the functional requirements of the product. Fifth, at the manufacturing stage, the AD was applied to examine whether there was any inconsistency in the manufacturing process. The result of development applied the theory of AD at each stage from demand collection to manufacture, eliminating duplicate design elements, and reducing the complexity of product development by logically determining design priority.
