Abstract
This paper presents a low-power low-noise neural recording chopper amplifier with high common-mode (CM) cancellation performance for implantable neuromodulation system-on-chips. The proposed amplifier employs a feedback- based common-mode cancellation loop to cancel up to 1.1 Vpp of input CM signal. In addition, using the chopper architecture with the current reuse current mirror based operational transconductance amplifier, the amplifier achieves 40 dB of closed-loop gain over 1 Hz to 5 kHz bandwidth, and the integrated input referred noise over the local field potential band (1-200 Hz) is 0.55 μVrms while achieving 1.8 μVrms for the action potential band (300 Hz-5 kHz). The proposed IC is designed using 0.18 μm CMOS process and it consumes 2.85 μW at 1.2 V supply voltage.
