Abstract

The material of typography is text(original form). Therefore, you have to 'read text' before the design. Text should be read through appreciation and analysis method. Appreciation is the activity to get thought and feeling from text. Analysis is the activity to search for context structure, grammatical structure and writing background in text. Researcher classified the ideational typography and the conceptual typography depending on the text reading method. Ideational typography depends on the text reading through appreciation. conceptual typography depends on the text reading through analysis. The methodology of ideational typography is ① original form change ② external factor combination ③ improvisation. The methodology of conceptual typography is ① original form preservation ② interpretation ③ re-interpretation. According to the above methodology, the ideational typography has the characteristics such as ① active formativeness ② external creativeness ③ experimentation and the conceptual typography has the characteristics such as ① automatic formativeness ② internal creativeness ③ taste/attitude/intuition. The ideational typography is formal/programmed and emphasizes formativeness and its work result is different from original form. The conceptual typography is informal / non- programmed and emphasizes concept rather than formativeness and its work result is the same as original form.
