관리용액 점안이 소프트콘택트렌즈를 착용한 건성안의 눈물막 안정성에 미치는 영향

Purpose: This study investigated the usage of lens care solution as an eye drop, the perception of lens care solution instillation, and the effects of lens care solution instillation on tear film stability and subjective symptoms of soft contact lens wearers with dry eyes. Methods: To investigate the actual usage of lens care solution as an eye drop and the perception of lens care solution instillation, an online survey was conducted on lens wearers who had no expert lens knowledge. Artificial tear and lens care solutions (2 multipurpose solutions and 1 wetting solution) were applied to contact lens wearers with dry eyes and their NIBUT and blink rate were measured. A survey was conducted to investigate the subjective symptoms following instillation. Results: More than a few lens wearers have used lens care solution as an eye drop, which isn't its original use, or had a positive perception of lens care solution instillation. A large number of respondents didn't know the exact direction for use of the lens care solution. NIBUT increased immediately after the instillation of artificial tear and lens care solutions yet decreased after 15 ~ 20 minutes following lens care solution instillation. All four solutions showed little effect on the change of blink rate after instillation. Although most subjective symptoms improved after artificial tear instillation, they worsened after instillation of multipurpose solutions. Conclusion: Lens care solutions are less effective in maintaining tear film stability than artificial tears and exacerbate subjective symptoms. Therefore, artificial tear instillation is the most effective and safe for dry eyes. In addition, lens wearers need to be educated on proper use of lens care solutions.
