Abstract
This study analyses empirically the influentials of employee innovative activity, utilizing a worker survey data collected in association with Workplace Panel Data by Korea Labor Institute in 2022. Based on Ability- Motivation-Opportunity(AMO) frameworks, we draw several hypotheses that ability, motivation, innovation climate, innovation training, innovation reward, and innovative work organization will have positive effects on innovative activity, and that ability, motivation, and innovation climate will mediate the effects of the AMO-enhancing practices on innovative activity. The regression models are OLS whose dependent variables are employee innovative behavior and employee involvement in innovation programs(EI). The results of this study indicate that ability, motivation, innovation climate, innovation training, and innovation work organization have significantly positive effects, while innovation reward does not. The mediation analyses indicate that ability mediate the effect of innovation training on innovative behavior, and motivation mediates the one of innovation training on EI, and the one of innovative work organization on innovative behavior, and that innovation climate mediate the one pf innovative work organization and innovation training on the two dependent variables. Finally we summarize the results, and discuss practical implications and some limitations of this study.
