Abstract
The effect of many parameters(velocity ratio, merging angle, etc.) on the turbulent mixing layer has been investigated. However, it hast not been fully understood yet. Therefore, the objective of this study is to investigate the characteristics of the turbulent mixing layer using CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics). In particular, the studies of Azim and Islam[1](straight type) and Mehta[2](contraction type) were selected as reference to focus on the effect of geometrical forms (merging type, merging angle, etc.). The present simulation results showed that in the contraction type, the flow becomes self similar in earlier positions as compared to the straight type. Also, in the contraction type, the thickness of the mixing layer becomes thinner and turbulent intensity smaller.
