Abstract

purpose: the purpose of this study was to identify the differences among exercise knowledge, health risk perception and physical activity by gender, major and level of exercise participation and to identify relationship among exercise knowledge, health risk perception and physical activity. methods: Four hundred fifty questionnaires were initially distributed to college students. Among them, total 430 were finally used in this study(male: 178, female: 252, Mage=20.453years). The exercise knowledge, health risk perception and physical activity questionnaires were used. Frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis were carried out by SPSS 23.O. results: It was found that there were partial differences in exercise knowledge, health risk perception and physical activity depending on the college student’s gender, major and level of exercise participation. Exercise knowledge among college students did not affect physical activity and there were differences factors that affected their physical activity depending on gender and level of exercise participation. conclusion: Intermediation strategies to enhance physical activity should take into account the subject. In addition, in-depth discussions about results of this study and follow up studies are needed.
