Abstract
The progress of knowledge information society is accelerating. Therefore, possibility of infinite data utilize is getting attention and data industry is growing actively. This study attempts to apply inter-industry analysis using exogenous specification to investigating the economic impacts of data industry in the Korean national economy. More specifically, this study shows what national economy effect of production-inducing effect, value-added creation effect, employment-inducing effect are explored with demand-driven model. The supply-shortage effect and the sectoral price effect are also analyzed with supply-driven model, Leontief price model, respectively. Furthermore, to investigate the roles of the data industry, we considered the forward/backward linkage effect. According to the results, 1 won increase of the data industry induced to increase 1.5140 won, 0.7353 won in other industries’ production and value-added creation effect, respectively. The employment- inducing effect of one billion won of production or investment in data industry is calculated to be 9.9850 persons. The data industry is classified into final primary production industry. Supply shortage effect and sectoral price effect of data industry are 0.7101 won, 0.0993% in other industries, respectively. These quantitative information can be usefully utilized in the policy-making for the data industry development project.
