Abstract
The philosophy of difference is an ontological plan that pushes the concept of difference not only to the relationship between beings but also to the reason for the being of beings. In thie plan, not only difference, but identity, and furthermore, the reproduction of identity called ‘structure’ must also be explained by difference. At the same time, the force of difference that deviates from it must be pushed into the structure. In Difference and Repetition, Deleuze solves this problem through the concept of Idea and intensity, pushing the concept of difference to ontological difference. In The Logic of Sense, the concepts of singularity and contingency accomplish this task, and ‘ideal event’ and ‘time of Aion’ correspond to these two concepts. In contrast to the ontology of difference unfolding along the path of actualisation from Idea to intensity, the logic of sense unfolds backwards from the actualized to the virtual. This is due to the fact that ‘sense’ and ‘event’ are not concepts waiting for an ‘interpretation’ of the actualized, but are a concept for the practical philosophy of throwing dice that repeats ‘Once again!’. By emphasizing this point, I would like to clarify the concept of contingency, which is often misunderstood as an accidental condition intervening in actualisation, and the concept of Aion, which is misunderstood as a special instant such as ‘Kairos’ or ‘Poetic time’. This will reveal that the logic of sense proposed by Deleuze is not only a philosophy of sense, but also a practical philosophy of eternal return. This will be led by the concept of an event as a forth dimension of meaning, distinct from ‘designation’, ‘manifestation’, and ‘signification’.
