Abstract

The purpose of this study is to increase the learning participation effect of online lecture contents for practical subjects by analyzing factors that affect learning participation. Currently, due to the Corona 19 pandemic, university lectures are being converted to online non-face-to-face lectures. In this time when the paradigm of education is changing, most of the university lecturers are creating and distributing contents for non-face-to-face online lectures without the help of experts or accurate manuals. Instructors need to identify factors that can increase learners’ participation in online lectures and create lectures that take them into account. For this reason, this researcher attempted to identify the factors that influence learners’ participation among the elements of online lectures. In this paper, in order to measure the learning participation effect of online lectures, online lecture contents are categorized by multimedia elements that have a significant relationship with communication of online lectures, and evaluation items are designed based on previous studies. In order to measure the effect of learning participation, the researcher provided three types of lecture contents to participants of multimedia training courses, and conducted a questionnaire targeting those who watched each type of contents. As a result of the survey, the effect of learning participation according to the instructor factor, learner factor, and environmental factor was identified. Enlarging the aspect ratio of the learning image in the online lecture contents of the multimedia training course is effective for participation in learning. It is recommended that the instructor insert it so that the learner can be immersed in the lecture, but it is more effective to reduce the percentage of the instructor video on the screen to less than 40%. Inserting subtitles was more effective for learners to grasp the learning content, except when subtitles were replaced with text on the slide screen.
This study has the implications of the study in that it helps to create effective lecture contents for learning participation by grasping the correlation between the multimedia factors of online lecture contents and the effect of participation in learning.
