Abstract

While the number of households raising dogs has soared due to the increase in single-person households and low birth rates, there are not many studies on local services related dog owners. In this background, this study aims to investigate design solutions to revitalize the local community through dog owners. The Gyeongchun Line Forest Road in Nowon-gu was selected as the subject of the study, and a service was proposed to promote the development of the region by identifying the experiences and requirements of the local dog owners. As research methods, first of all, preliminary desk research such as online reviews and exploration surveys were conducted, and surveys and in-depth interviews were conducted. As a result of the user research, the needs for providing and sharing information related to the Gyeongchun Line Trail promenade that dogs can trust, exploring and discover pet sitters and walking mates, and managing functions to help pet care was identified. As a result, the core concepts, which are communication, connection, and care were derived, and based on this, a mobile service that provides community, walking mate and pet sitter matching, and dog care functions was proposed as the study result. Through this service, users can effectively care for their dogs and build up communities with dog owners through functions such as pet sitter search, reliability check, walking mate search, information to improve dog owners’ etiquette, trail recommendation, course sharing, trail congestion check, and question-answer matching with experts. Based on the results of this study, it is expected that region-based services through pet owners will be expanded.
