Abstract

This study is aimed to suggest a plan to apply UX design effectively to the website of cyber universities in order to improve their brand awareness. This is intended to strengthen the external competitiveness of cyber universities and provide users with enhanced UX design on the website. This study was conducted by selecting top three cyber universities (Kyung Hee, Seoul, & Hanyang) in terms of high admission and organization quotas as of 2020 among cyber universities located in Seoul where a graduate school is installed. Referring to previous studies, this author investigated the concept of brand awareness and the characteristics of UX design in website design and examined the current status of website UI design of those three cyber universities. In addition, in-depth expert interviews were carried out to construct UX design elements to enhance the brand awareness of cyber universities. A survey was conducted by organizing the items of UX evaluation to conduct UX evaluation targeting the general public through the UI design elements of verified cyber university websites. Through this, the UX design of each of the cyber university websites was analyzed comparatively, and as a result, a plan was proposed to apply UX design effectively to the website that works as the campus of a cyber university to improve brand awareness. According to the findings, to enhance the brand awareness of a cyber university on the website, it will be needed to consider usability first and apply UX design to elevate value and desirability by applying colors that can express the unique identity of cyber universities.
