Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find the policy implications from the household characteristics and the housing condition of Seoul. Statistical data including the 2010 Population and Housing Census were used to diagnose the changes in the structures of population and households and to analyze the current housing stock and the housing expense. Furthermore, the number of households below the minimum housing standards was inferred to identify the target for the housing welfare policy. The new housing types are needed corresponding to the rapid changes in the population and household such as the increase of the one person households and the elderly households. The supply of small-sized and affordable housing and the public support for the dilapidated dwelling are required for securing quality and quantity of housing for the low income households.
