Abstract
As of October 7, 2023, the 15 minutes-ticket-reopening system was implemented in the Seoul subway. The purpose of this study was to analyze the implementation effect of the 15 minutes-ticket-reopening system in Seoul and derive improvement measures accordingly.
Through analysis of transportation card OD data in the metropolitan area, I was able to confirm changes in passenger movement patterns due to the implementation of the 15-minute re-ticketing system and changes in and impact of transportation agencies" revenues due to the distribution of integrated transfer fares between buses and subways.
As a result of this study, I was able to confirm the high level of satisfaction of more than 90% of the users, and as a result of the analysis of the reopening OD data, more than 92% of the revenue loss due to the first settlement occurred in the Seoul Metro section, and most of the remaining 8% also occurred in the Seoul Metro section. It was analyzed as a loss on the bus side.
Based on these research results, the following system improvement measures were presented. First, it was proposed to expand the application of this system to all subway transportation institutions, second, expand the implementation of transfer stations, and third, compensate the local government for the loss of transportation agencies.
