Abstract
Seoul metro is the major public transportation system to carry20 million Seoul metropolitan citizens which is comfortable and efficient.
But it is not easy to see the shape of subway station located under ground except ground entrance of subway station. There were variety design for subway station entrance with the times. The design decision factor of subway station entrance design were city policy, cityscape, user recognition, harmony with neighbor business, safety, durability, maintenance efficiency, etc. There were no clear and systematic method to decide form of the entrance of subway station. Therefore it could be useful to research fundamental study about installation and maintaining the entrance of subway station. Through this study data of canopy design of subway station are collected and categorized to find attribute of design. As a result, 230 entrance cases of Seoul metro line no. 2 were collected and analyzed.
