Abstract

For a precision electronic component manufacturing factory, stable operation of production equipment is essential for high-quality products. In particular, reliable water supply is crucial as the production equipment is sensitive to changes in the supplied cold water temperatures. The type and scale of product manufacturing, as well as the market conditions, lead to changes in the specifications, arrangement and quantities of production equipment. Additionally, adjustments and modifications have been made to the cold water supply system. In general, chilled water system use headers when there are multiple loads. However, the return temperature of the production equipment is often supplied at a temperature different from the original design, which can cause problems with the operation and final product quality. CFD was performed to identify the cause of these problems and to propose design criteria for cold water return headers that improves temperature uniformity. A correlation equation was proposed to propose an appropriate header length that satisfies the temperature uniformity of the return header with respect to the flow rate ratio.
