Abstract

With the advent of the cultural society, contents are being developed based on the stories inherent in various fields. Particularly, design field is ultimately applying esthetic experiences to product development, reflecting experiential factors on knowledge or information. In the fields of craftwork, however, a massive amount of fact-based stories has been decided for use by the skill, experience and emotion of an individual craftsman. Therefore, no in-depth approach has been made to the use of the stories. In addition, crafts developed on storytelling have loose connectivity between a product itself with a story that the product is based on due to relatively low cost and short development time. So this kind of story-based craftwork often fails in drawing out a good response from market. Therefore, this research patternizes the process of story-based craftwork development and reorganizes the framework of the shape of craftwork by storytelling analysis. To do so, the present study chooses traditional drink bottles and glasses as research objects and then applies craftsman’s design motif to the framework intuitively. The results of this study confirmed that information- and emotion-based framework through logical analysis of the storytelling of drink bottles and glasses can propose a basic direction to the development of the designs of drink bottles and glasses. In addition, it was known that the application of storytelling items and visual factors can establish the process of design development of drink bottles and glasses and the intuitive introduction of motif enables to develop drink bottles and glasses based on standard.
