Abstract
Public education system has been supported the capitalism and democratic society by supplying skillful labors to the market and educating citizens. Due to the institutionalization of public education, there has been inefficiency and low-quality problems that neoliberalism reformers make target in worldwide. After the 5.31 Educational Reform Policy released, Korean public education system also adopted the doctrines of neoliberalism reformers such as free competition in market and autonomy, in pursuit of improving competitiveness and efficiency. As the results of reforming by neoliberalism, there are the enforcement of school evaluation, school accountability, competition between schools, and the use of evaluation results as punishment. On the other hand, neoliberalism reform has been criticized due to the damage of public and educational equality resulting in serious political issues. This is the time to discuss more about how we improve the public education system for educational and political equality and overcome the consequences of neoliberallist" reformation.
