Abstract
The relationship between job stress, job satisfaction according to emotional labor of korean opticians was investigated. The questionaries were distributed to opticians work in unspecified areas including Seoul, Gyeonggi, Busan, and Gyeongnam province. The responses were statistically analysed using SPSS 12.0 program. As a result, emotional labor, job stress, and job satisfaction of optometrist were 3.10, 3.44, 2.84 respectively. Given that, optician's emotional labor and job stress are higher than those of health care workers such as nurses and physical therapists. In this regards, the job satisfaction of opticians relatively low. Emotional labor was in correlation with a variety of factors, including experience, weekly working days, and income. The intensity and frequency of emotional labor had positive correlation with job stress which also showed negative correlation with job satisfaction. Therefore, reducing job stress and understanding emotional labor is necessary to maximize the job satisfaction. In addition, establishing systems and related future researches to improve the working environment of opticians are in need.
