안경 신문에 사용된 인포그래픽 분석

Purpose: Infographics have a lot of advantage to express a tremendous amount of data simply and exactly. Nevertheless, the Korean optical newspaper has not utilized infographics actively. This paper aims to analyze infographics used in the Korean optical newspaper and to present the direction about proper utilization of infographics. Methods: From April 05, 2010 to April 10, 2017, total 16,775 articles were published in the Fneyefocus news and were analyzed as research subjects. Infographics were analyzed according to the established criteria based on previous studies. Results: In the Korean optical newspaper published from April 05, 2010 until April 10, 2017, there were about 200 articles using infographics. In these articles, the ‘illustration’ format was used most frequently when infographics were categorized according to the visual expression of infographics. Also, the ‘function’ and the ‘interpretation’ formats were used most frequently when infographics were categorized according to the contents of information. Conclusions: In the Korean optical newspaper, there were many articles, including simple data visualization, but there were few articles including infographics. In addition, the completeness of the used infographics was low. Conclusively, we confirmed that the use of infographics in the Korean optical newspaper was not fully utilized. It is necessary to more utilize of competitive infographics in the Korean optical newspaper which deal with contact lenses and optical devices as a topic. This study will serve as an opportunity to increase the utilization of proper infographics according to the content and roles of articles in the Korean optical newspaper in the future.
