Abstract
This paper analyzes the video installation works of Finnish film director and visual artist Eija-Liisa Ahtila(1959~). Attila's works can be divided into early works that focus on human emotions and events in the form of video installations using multi-screens, and recent works that examine the relationships between humans and non-human beings. This study focuses on non-human beings damaged by human selfishness, explores ways to coexist with others, and examines Attila's worldview, which seeks to break away from dichotomous thinking and understand the world of others' perception. Ahtila argues that she should strive to escape from human species-centeredness and seek a new community for symbiosis with others and sustainable survival through her own art world. As a direction for post-human beings in the Anthropocene era, Ahtila’s work examines the relationship between human and non-human beings and reveals that the formation of new relationship and network between two beings with different perceptual worlds is an indispensable element of human survival.
