Abstract
The purpose of this study is to verify how self-image congruence of leisure sports participants impacts their positive emotions, meaning of life, and happiness. A Google survey was collected from 283 leisure sports participants over the age of 18. While the ideal self-image congruence of sports did not directly affect happiness, it was still found to have a positive effect on happiness by mediating positive emotions. The actual self-image congruence of leisure sports did not directly affect happiness, nor did it have an indirect effect mediating positive emotions and meaning of life. Finally, social self-image congruence in sports did not directly affect happiness, but it was found to have a positive effect on happiness by mediating the meaning of life. The significance of this study is to examine the effect of self-image congruence of leisure sports participants on happiness by specifying it according to two perspectives (e.g., hedomism and eudaimonic happiness).
