Abstract
We examine the basic working mechanism of floor area ratio regulations using theelementary producer theory of microeconomics. In addition, we provide a numericalmethodology by which to measure the efficiency gain or loss associated with the regulationsin Anas-type spatial models. The theory and methodology is applicable to thenonmonocentric city embedded in general equilibrium spatial models.
