Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the structural performances of reinforced concrete connection joint with a welded wire fabrics in order to see if this fabrics could be one of the replacement for traditional reinforcing bar. One of the main benefit of utilizing a prefabricated wire is the ease of installation of reinforcing bars in exterior and interior wall-slab joints in building structures. Two different types of reinforcements; (a) deformed bar, (b) welded wire fabrics were analyzed with aids of finite element program under 3 different anchorage strategies; proper anchorage, 100mm anchorage, enhanced anchorage with additional deformed rebar. Load-deflection curves from computer simulation are extensively compared with experimental evidence. Nonlinear concrete damage plasticity model(Lee & Fenves, 1998), bilinear hardening model for traditional deformed bar and J2 perfectly plasticity model were used in order to manipulate post-peak behaviors in the load transfer mechanisms of the connection joints.
