Abstract
The continuous growth of a webtoon in Korea is noticeable in recent years. Reading a webtoon by scrolling a screen provides webtoon readers new visual experiences. It also leads a webtoon market trend as a new way of visual expression with the advantage of using infinite digital space and scroll bar as well. Infinite vertical rooms, innovative division of comic space, using speech balloons as well as narration, and animation techniques are main elements which are utilized in a webtoon. The ultimate goal of this study is to provide a new guideline of space utilization in making webtoons by analyzing various samples of domestic and international webtoons.
