Abstract
This study treats the evaluation criteria for DOT LAB program, which belongs to the STEAM program that has so far proceeded at Korea Science & Art Forum. With the last issue included, the standard and specific indices of the educational evaluation were divided into four large areas, which is increased to five in the current study. In its turn, vol. 18 creates indices for different evaluation criteria based on the data from earlier studies related to the results of statistical analysis. Accordingly, I have organized the concepts and categories required in different areas. Thus, I have inserted the area of ‘contents composition’ as ‘convergence application’ and reinterpreted it, while replacing the area of ‘contents composition’ with ‘goal reflection’. Also, of those academic areas required in STEAM, I have developed ‘Art’ as a concept of ‘Design’ and reinterpreted it.
In other words, the previous studies categorized areas of evaluation into concept recognition, creative approach, convergence application, and contents composition, whereas the current study reinterprets the categories of convergence application and contents composition that are added and supplemented, to which design element is further added to establish DL-5C system.
In my future research, I am going to conduct once again a statistical analysis to see whether the elements of evaluation required in different areas are correctly organized. Based on the results of the evaluation performed in different areas, the evaluation model can ultimately make a comparison between the original educational intention declared by the developer of the educational program and the effect of the convergence education as perceived by students. This will enable it to perform a quantitative evaluation in different categories of the STEAM program and, based on the difference between the original educational intention and effect, will be hopefully applied in the improvement (CQI) of the educational program.
