Abstract

Background Research on the emotional expression of interactive agents is being actively conducted. Although language expression is known to be important in emotional expression, not many studies have been conducted on linguistically approaching the emotional expression of interactive agents. This study attempts to identify the appropriate sentence-closing ending in the expression of emotions of interactive agents.
Methods previous studies on the emotional expression of interactive agents and the use of existing interactive agent termination endings were investigated. Subsequently, an experiment was conducted after manufacturing an experimental tool that combines sentence-closing endings for each emotional utterance. Based on the experimental results, the sentence-closing ending expression suitable for the emotional utterance of the interactive agent was identified.
Result The following results were derived through the experiment. In joyous feelings, it is better to use ‘Hae-chae’ (the expression of lowering among informal form) and ‘Haeyo-chae’ (the expression of raising among informal form). In sadness emotions, considering user satisfaction, it is okay to use both ‘Hae-chae’ and ‘Haeyo-chae’, but it is better to use ‘Haeyo-chae’ if you only think about emotional delivery. In anger feelings, it is better to use ‘Hae-chae’. In the sense of surprise, it is better to use ‘Hae-chae’ and ‘Haeyo-chae’.
Conclusion This study identifies the appropriate sentence-closing ending for each emotional utterance of interactive agents and is expected to be based on the study of various expressions of emotional utterance of the interactive agents.
