Abstract
Purpose: This study was aimed at simulating the finite schematic eyes adopting age-related clinical data to predict the visual performance of presbyopia. Methods: We analysed the clinical data of previous clinical studies which measured age-related changes of human eyes. The data were applied to optical parameters of the female schematic eyes in the age of 40, 50 and 60. The ZEMAX simulation program was used to design and optimize the schematic eyes for presbyopia.
Results: The designed schematic eyes showed the presbyopic process corresponding to the clinical data of previous studies. Their image qualities gradually decreased with increase of their age. Conclusions: It is expected that the designed finite schematic eyes in accordance with real presbyopia will be useful in theoretical analyses of presbyopia and evaluation of the change of visual function when ophthalmic surgical correction is applied.
