Abstract

The number of disabled people in Korea is 4.8% of the total population, but most of them are rehabilitation and vocational education services based on public facilities. In order to achieve `self-reliance,` the ultimate aim of disabled people`s support services, we need not only systematic efforts, but also the role of various activity assistants. In this study, we would like to propose a service that can connect disabled people who need help with activity assistants from a user experience design point of view.
Through the literature review, we conducted a case study on domestic and overseas cases related to the support of the disabled. And we conducted interviews with experts related to the support services for the disabled, and conducted a user research for the disabled and activity assistants. After analyzing the results of the research, we derived problems and insights, and then conducted user experience modeling. Based on this, we have developed a service concept that enables us to connect the disabled person with the activity assistant and develop the lasting relationship. The implemented application service was verified for usability through prototyping.
This study suggests a platform that connects the disabled who need help and activity assistant, so that they can actively support non-disabled persons who want to volunteer as well as provide practical assistance to help the disabled. In addition, it can stimulate the natural exchange between the disabled and the non-disabled people, so that the awareness of the disabled support service can be expected to be improved.
