Abstract
The stores in the commercial area provide the pedestrians with information about their goods or services to attract the potential customers' attention. The purpose of this study is to develop an analysis method to evaluate the store composition in the commercial streets using graph theory and information theory. The method can be applied to analyze the interrelationship between stores and commercial streets and furthermore to quantify disorder and agglomeration of the store alignment in the commercial area. The case study on Shimokitazawa, one of the representative commercial area in Tokyo, verifies the effectiveness of the evaluation method.
