Abstract
In this study, the optimal display characterization method was identified to get the color reproduction quality of computer displays and to ensure accurate image and video content color quality. The color space mainly used for image and video content was characterized by dividing it into a matrix method and a LUT method. As a result of the study, the LUT method profile characterization shows higher color reproduction quality compared to the matrix profile. It shows a significant difference between the native color gamut and the most different AdobeRGB color space through color space analysis. It is confirmed that the most ideal color reproduction is possible at the level of 115 to 175 patches for the number of sampling patches used in characterizing the LUT. In addition, it is shown that increasing the number of sampling patches can negatively affect the reproduction quality. The standard deviation of color difference, which can estimate the stable reproduction level of all colors, shows the lowest level in 115 patch sampling.
