Abstract

The research and developments(R&D) are necessary for the stable growth of firm as well as the stable macro-economic growth and developments. The role of bank is important fostering firm's active R&D activities. The stable supplies from main banks make the firm concentrate on the long-term R&D investments.
Following the previous researches, bank size may have negative or positive effects on the firm's R&D activities. This research focuses on the relationship between main bank size and firm's R&D investments.
According to the results of this research, there is a non-linear relations between main bank size and firm's R&D investments. In spite of a negative relations below some specific bank size level, We found a positive relations over some specific bank size level. These results are strongly supported in case of changing the R&D variables or using the lagged bank size variables instead of contemporary ones.
