Abstract
Early Chinese texts have become the classics, providing significant references for researchers on East Asian thought, culture and history. Political thought in North East Asia is not an exception. Research on political thought in early Chinese texts mainly focuses on leadership and policy. Analyses of political leadership and the following policies in early Chinese thought are important in terms of the extent to which early Chinese thought has influence on political thought in the present day. This article focuses on individuals in political groups such as states: what individuals in political groups are, what the relationship between individuals and their political groups is like, and how individuals experience political leadership. Mencius, Xunzi, Mozi and the Book of Odes (Shijing) are the texts that are analyzed in this article.
