Abstract
The purpose of this study is to estimate the monetary value of intangible compensations based on a choice-based policy capturing method, applying fixed effect conditional logit model as its methodology. The dependent variables of the models are job choice behaviors altogether in the two experiments, while the independent variables are different between the two experiments: wage, redundancy, likelihood of skill utilization in the future, promotion opportunity, and growth rate of the firm for an experiment, and wage, working hour, physical fatigue, interesting job contents, human relations with coworkers and manager, and pleasant and safe working conditions for the other.
The results of this study indicate that all the job factors have statistically significant effects on job choice behaviors. The estimated monetary values of the job factors are as follows: 83.4M KRW for the 5% probability of redundancy in a next five years, 66.1M KRW for 4 working hours reduced, 81.8M KRW for pleasant and safe working conditions, 73.9M KRW for human relations with coworkers and manager, 75.5M KRW for likelihood of sustainable skill utilization in the future, 53.8M KRW for firm’s growth rate, 50.3M KRW for physical fatigue, 35.3M KRW for interesting job contents, and 21.9M KRW for promotion opportunity. Finally we summarize the empirical results and discuss their managerial implications.
