Abstract
This study aims to explore methods to provide wayfinding information for electric kickboard drivers when they try to find directions using a map app. This study first identified the characteristics of personal mobility and electric kickboard, and examined the types of information modalities provided by map apps. Then, field observations and 1:1 in-depth interviews were conducted to find out the information modality type required for users to reach their destinations safely and accurately. As a result, it was found that multimodality, which used both visual and auditory information, was more useful for finding directions than single modality. Also, the importance of continuous and accurate information and the needs for a map app suitable for electric kickboard driving situations were also confirmed. This study is meaningful in that it empirically confirmed the necessity of providing the information of directions through multimodality and proposed appropriate methods of providing information.
