Abstract

The state-led regional balanced development have problems, which leads to the need of plans for the regional development led by municipalities and residents. Many countries have long been suggesting the region-specific development plans led by municipalities and residents to solve regional problems. Dott07 project, which was carried out to solve 5 regional issues-health, food, transportation, energy and education-, is a good example. The project was successful because a design, which has been focusing on styling products in a manufacturing-oriented society, has expanded it role as a driving force solving various economic, social and political problems as the industrial paradigm has shifted.
The purpose of this case study is to suggest a new region-specific business model led by municipalities and local governments for the regional development and the settlement of regional problem. In recent years, the competitiveness in agricultural distribution is the most critical for creating economic value of the local government and thus the customer-oriented service design is expected to have a great influence over the strengthening of distribution service in the current agricultural sector and agricultural product distribution industry.
The service design projects based on this design thinking approach are expected to expand to regional areas, which will lead to the improvement of life quality of residents, regional development and the development of new markets.
