Abstract

Various concepts of future preparation are presented globally, but there is no evidence yet in Korea. We have to identify the future preparation factors of the community by the citizens. And it is necessary to establish a future strategy in the era of decentralization. In this paper, we identified future preparation factors at the regional level. They are composed of sustainability and competitiveness dimensions. As a result the factors were composed of ⑧ Economic stability (sustainability), ⑥ Democratic Environment (Sustainability), ⑤ Educational investment system (sustainability), ③ Eco-friendly life (sustainability), ① Economic growth (competitiveness), ④ Investment in local unique resources (competitiveness), ⑦ human resource excellence (competitiveness), ② Information literacy (sustainability). Future preparation factors also depend on local characteristics such as regional size and position. Nevertheless, it was found that sustainability factors had a greater impact on future strategies than competitive factors. The future preparation and strategy of the region should be considered to the characteristic of the region from the citizen. This study suggests that regional future preparation that reflects local characteristics make the region sustainable.
