Abstract

The purpose of this study is to present environment factors that will help Korean small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to execute creativity management and support internal operations of firms to enable efficient and effective action for creativity. To the end, empirical analysis is employed to explore environmental factors for creativity management based on data collected from a survey on the Korean SMEs. Through descriptive statistics and factor analysis, it is confirmed that the key environment factors for creativity management in Korean SMEs consist of 6 factors, which are trust, challenge, idea support, humor, openness, risk-taking. Furthermore,our empirical tests support that when managers in SMEs put creativity management into action, the relative importance of environmental factors are varying in accordance with the number of employees, the level of annual sales, and the number of R&D personnel. Thus, this paper has a meaning in that it derives some implications for practical purpose.
