Abstract
This study intended to exploratively highlight the effects of physical fatigue of railway dispatchers on their cognitive failure, near-miss, and responsibility accidents. The result of path analysis using AMOS based on the data from 281 dispatchers showed that there are significant causality in two paths such as ‘physical fatigue⟶cognitive failure’ and ‘physical fatigue⟶near-miss⟶responsibility accidents.’ And near-miss was found to do the role of complete mediation between physical fatigue and responsibility accidents.’ This empirical result implicates that there need to be institutional focus and effort for mitigating physical fatigue as well as near-miss of dispatchers in order to lower their responsibility accidents.
