Abstract

The Ministry of Education is continuing to work on the CPTED Model School project. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the improvement of the environment and the school violence in order to measure the performance of the project. For this purpose, this study analyzed the numbers of school violence in 11 schools in Gyeonggi province and nearby schools where the CPTED pilot school project was carried out in 2013. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the improvement of the environment through the CPTED and the violence in the school was formed to some degree. Especially, intentional violence such as extortion and intimidation has been a significant declined. Also, it was found that the driving factors of the CPTED pilot project showed the characteristics of the school class, which was recognized as reflecting the major risk factors of the school class. The result of this study can be utilized to enhance the effectiveness of the policy by being reflected in the policy of the additional CPTED environment improvement project.
