Abstract
This study is a basic study to analyze the effect of the CPTED improvement project of K-12 school on crime prevention such as violence in school. In order to measure the results of the CPTED environment improvement project conducted in 2013, the results of surveys of school violence by 7 CPTED environment improvement schools and 7 general schools in Seoul were compared.
To analyze the environmental improvement factors of schools, CPTED improvement area was analyzed based on 5 CPTED strategies. As a result, 7 schools performed various projects in 5 strategic areas. Especially, 6 schools performed improvement projects for activity support.
The results of the analysis of school violence surveys and the relationship between CPTED projects showed that the rate of violence reduction in schools where CPTED projects were conducted was higher than that of general schools.
Especially, the decrease rate of violence such as assault and extortion was higher than that of general schools. In terms of the reduction rate of violent places, violence reduction rates in the restrooms, corridors, and other places in the school are higher than the rate of violence reduction in classrooms and playgrounds.
Therefore, it can be concluded that the CPTED improvement effect on the improvement of the public space environment is working effectively.
