Abstract
Attention has been paid to environmental behavior in the environmental policy area. Pro-environmental behavior of the public with daily-based participation for environmental protection has been recognized as a better policy tool than command-and-control policy approach. This paper examines why research comes up with inconsistent results in the determinants of pro-environmental behavior. The study specifically focuses on environmental-friendly intention, acculturation, and income affecting environmental behavior of Korean immigrants living in the U.S. Study results demonstrate that both pro-environmental activity intention and regional-based acculturation turned out to be positively associated pro-environmental behavior. In contrast, neither individual-based acculturation nor income are statistically significant in explaining environmental behavior. Policy implications are usefully provided for promoting pro-environmental behavior in Korea.
