Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the understanding on SHA among Taekwondo (TKD) coaches. In addition, based on findings of this study, we will make suggestions for future educational contents of preventing SHA in TKD. A total of 304(M=249, F=55) coaches with age over 20 years old were participated in this survey. The survey was conducted by self-administration. The SHA related content of survey was divided into four sub-factors. Overall, TKD coaches' level of understanding on SHA was high(81 out of 100 scores). The means of total scores showed a significant difference between gender(p<.05). These differences were also detected from the factor 2, 3, and 4(p<.05). Other independent variables which include age, black belt levels, years of TKD experience, and years of TKD teaching experience showed significant differences on the means of total score(p<.05). However, no significant differences were found between the mean scores of total score and levels of education, areas of residence, and past completion of SHA classes(p>.05). In conclusions, overall TKD coaches seem well understanding on the current SHA concept especially female coaches than their counter part. In order to maximize educational efficacy for preventing SHA among coaches in TKD, differentiated educational programs which depend on gender and age levels are probably needed in the future.
