Abstract

Recently, the use of invert has increased rapidly due to vibration problems in tunnels; accordingly, the installation of invert is being closely reviewed during tunnel design. The side drainage method was allowed in recent revisions of standards; thus, track substructure design is gradually becoming more diverse. Since track substructures are in direct contact with track through which trains pass, these structures can have significant impacts on vibration generated when high-speed trains pass. This paper aims to identify track vibration characteristics when trains pass, using the track substructure method. The track substructure is largely divided into side drainage, center drainage, and invert methods; vibration acceleration field measurements were performed for each method. The measured vibration acceleration at all measurement points was at a minimum in the invert section, and at a maximum in the side drainage section. Through this, it was confinned that the substructure of the invert section is the most advantageous structure for reducing vibration.
