Abstract
This study seeks to find a research methodology for the tools of everyday life to function as a description for Korean design history. It is a difficult task to completely cover all the various ways of description and massive research in objects. Therefore, in this paper, “Korea design heritage” will be as the main subject. Design heritage can be expanded as an object which has historical design value rather than limited to just designer’s products. In terms of Korean historical design value, it affects Korean design activity and is applied to Korean creative problem solving methods.
In recent research case studies on this subject, they mainly use methodologies that list relatively various perspectives to explain value. Nevertheless, most of them have limits where they mainly record the results and specific items in order to prove Korean culture or Korean design excellence.
Therefore, the processes, technologies, and materials of daily life products change as time passes. The effects towards other items of today could be future research subjects as well. If the follow-up research results could come out consistently with these endeavors, it would lay the academic groundwork for Korean design. It could also find shared research methodologies in sociology, folklore, and many related fields.
