Abstract
In response to the environmental problems caused by the consumption of fossil fuels, and against the backdrop of the emergence of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data, as well as the goal of achieving carbon neutrality, there has been a recent focus on the technologies and systems related to the Internet of Energy (IoE). Recently, research and development for IoE, a highly advanced system that integrates cutting-edge technologies, have become crucial when considering energy transition, reducing carbon emissions, and sustainable development. Therefore, it is essential to preemptively grasp the differences in the perspectives of stakeholders in this field and establish appropriate policies and directions for technology development for the promotion of IoE. This study first aims to identify the factors promoting the activation of IoE and derive the priority of each factor using the analytic hierarchy process. Not only that, but it also seeks to analyze differences in opinion by group and propose ways to bridge the gaps between categories. To achieve this goal, experts' comprehensive opinions on policy and technical priority factors for the promotion of IoE activation were analyzed. The experts were divided into two groups: academia and industry, and their opinions were analyzed and compared in detail for each factor. The results showed that there was not a significant difference in opinions between academia and industry in terms of technological development for promoting IoE activation. However, clear differences in perception between the two groups emerged regarding policy-making direction. This research is the first study on the policy for promoting the activation of the IoE in South Korea. In the future, the government can use this as a foundation to plan policy-making and technological development, and establish a compromise on elements with large differences in opinion.
